We are Nomadic Photographers David & Twyla. We find joy in the fact that photographs can move people in such a way that it can transport them, in an instant to that place, have you feel the feeling, soak in the mood, and understand the statement or the story that a photograph is telling.
Photography is our way of artistically expressing ourselves. I have been making pictures since I was 12 and we enjoy the hunt for a great view and the excitement of pursuing the light. My wife Twyla has been at it for some years now.
We were both raised in the Pacific Northwest and enjoy photography of all genres but we really enjoy landscape and wildlife photography the most. Getting out in nature and not only enjoying capturing it digitally but enjoying the real-life interaction with all of God’s creation is what balances & energizes us.
I hold a certificate in digital photography from Alison Certified Learning received through Harvard University Cambridge, MA. Otherwise, I am solely self-taught; internet, books, seminars and good old trial & error.
As I said, Twyla has no formal training, just learning from me, but she really has an eye for it.
About our gear: Currently, I use a Canon Mirrorless EOS R6, & Twyla a Canon 7D MK II. Both are fully digital cameras. Our lenses are a variety of zoom & prime lenses ranging from 10mm to 600mm. We process our RAW images with Adobe Light Room Software for post-development workflow. We also use Adobe Photoshop as part of our workflow as well as Topaz Labs software.
About the Photographs: We blend modern and classical photographic techniques. Digital capture is used and the "digital darkroom" is then used to recreate the power and feel of the natural scene. Digital techniques are used to overcome the limitations of prints and to recapture the color, the sharpness and the interplay of tonalities that were present in the original scene. The only exception to this is HDR photographs, portraits and artistically rendered photographs.
The final printing is commercially processed which utilizes the latest digital enlarger that produces powerful photographic prints that will, with proper care, last a lifetime. All outdoor scenes were shot using available light, without flash with the exception of some portraits.
